WCOP Model Links for Students
|
Home PageThis site has been developed for individuals interested implementing best practices related to transition strategies for students with disabilities. Welcome! On this site, you will find an overview and program philosophy of our Work and Career Opportunities Program (WCOP). Evaluation of this program and continued intensive follow up is currently underway. We also provide you with a history of a related grant (Project Job) previously funded and conducted on the same premises of self-determination, self-advocacy, and independence as WCOP. These essential transition components are linked to successful post secondary outcomes in employment and education for students with disabilities. This site outlines how these effective transition strategies are linked to the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004 and how incorporating these strategies into classrooms can have dramatic effects on successful post secondary outcomes for youth with disabilities. We offer links to related research around the country, as well as links of Western New York resources fostering collaboration among key personnel, students, parents/caregivers, and employers locally. For your convenience, we have organized links for parents, students and professionals to find information related to transition services most useful to them. If you have any questions or comments about this web site or the research studies conducted, please feel free to contact us. |
